Olsztyn: Guide

Olsztyn (; Duits: Allenstein) is een stad in het noordoosten van Polen. Het was de historische hoofdstad van Ermland. De stad ligt aan de rivier de Lyna en heeft 173.350 inwoners (2004). Olsztyn is tegenwoordig de hoofdstad van het woiwodschap Ermland-Mazurië.

De canonicus, arts en astronoom Nicolaus Copernicus heeft hier in het jaar 1520 gewoond en gewerkt. In het kasteel is een tentoonstelling van Copernicania, en voor de ingang van het kasteel staat een bronzen monument van Copernicus.
