Kołobrzeg: Guide
Kołobrzeg (Duits: Kolberg, voor 1891 Colberg) is een Lijst van Poolse steden|stad in het Polen|Poolse woiwodschap West-Pommeren, gelegen in de powiat Powiat Kołobrzeski|Kołobrzeski. De oppervlakte bedraagt 25,67 km², het inwonertal 44.932 (2005).
Geschiedenis
Kołobrzeg behoorde sinds 971 (en mogelijk ook daarvoor) tot Polen. De stad kreeg in 1255 stadsrechten en was van 1361 tot 1610 lid van de Hanze. Van 1641 tot 1721 behoorde de stad tot Zweden, sinds de Grote Noordse Oorlog (1700-1721) tot Pruisen. Binnen dat laatste land behoorde Kolberg sinds 1816 tot het district Fürstenthum en sinds 1872 tot het district Kolberg-Körlin in de provincie Pommeren (provincie)|Pommeren.
De stad raakte in 1945 zwaar beschadigd en ging na de Tweede Wereldoorlog over in Poolse handen. De oorspronkelijke inwoners werden verdreven. Vanwege het militaire belang werd de stad snel heropgebouwd met hoogbouw. Het centrum werd pas in de jaren '90 in historiserende stijl herbouwd.
