Besançon: Guide
Besançon is een Frankrijk|Franse stad in departement Doubs (departement)|Doubs. Het is tevens de hoofdstad van het departement (préfecture) en de regio Franche-Comté. Er waren in 2005 128.426 inwoners.
De Latijnse naam was Vesontio en kwam voor in journalen van Julius Caesar. De naam veranderde van Besantio, Besontion naar het moderne Franse Besançon. Inwoners heten 'Bisontins'.
